For 10 years, we’ve been creating technology alongside teams at some of the world’s most complex operations.

We’ve witnessed their challenges first hand. The reality of their work involves long hours in the field, careful attention to detail and constant safety risks. Since day one, Samsara’s mission has been to make their work safer, more efficient and more sustainable, and we’re always looking for new ways to deliver on that promise.

What we’ve learned working in these diverse environments has taken us to where we are today, and will guide everything we do in the future. These are some of the lessons we’ve learned from customers that will drive the next decade forward.

1. Innovation starts with conversations

We see our customers as true innovation partners. That’s why we spend significant time with them in the field, learning about their real-world challenges and using that experience to shape everything we build. Now that we’re in the AI era, this collaborative approach is more important than ever. Although it’s easy to get lost in the limitless possibilities of AI, we immediately focused on how to use this technology most effectively for our customers. We don’t develop new features merely to tick a box; we create them to solve specific problems that physical operations teams face every day.

Each of our solutions – and every new feature – maps directly to a problem our customers described. Asset Tags solved the challenge of tracking and protecting mission-critical small assets, helping companies like DeSilva Gates protect their $200 million (£154 million) equipment fleet from theft. Samsara Assistant grew from conversations with fleet managers who needed faster access to crucial information. Positive Recognition was built to help companies celebrate and keep their best drivers. Visual Intelligence responded to field workers who wanted to quickly identify safety hazards from jobsite photos. When new challenges arise, we’re always ready to help find a solution.

2. Safety drives every decision

Safety is always top of mind for our customers, whether they’re at construction sites or on the road. It’s a daily priority with real consequences for their teams. Because of that, we’re constantly thinking about how we can help them make their operations safer.

“Our goal is to get to zero accidents and the only way to do that is by understanding our drivers’ behaviour and educating them on how to work as safely as possible. Using Samsara, we are putting safety at the heart of our service and enabling the success of our Uber partners and PCO drivers.”

– Gurinder Dhillon, CEO and Founder, Otto Car

Our AI Dash Cams were designed with the driver experience in mind to help drivers and their managers anticipate all kinds of risks on the road. Features like Drowsiness Detection emerged directly from customer input about the challenges drivers face during long hours on the road. And now, these features are making a real impact. When customers deploy Samsara, their accident rates typically drop by between 20 and 80 percent. We’ve helped DHL reduce accident costs by 49%, Home Depot reduce auto liability claims costs by 65% and the City of Memphis reduce distracted driving by 75%.

“By using Samsara Dash Cams, our drivers know that someone who cares is watching out for them and wants them to be the best driver they can be.”

– Joseph Elia, National Fleet Coordinator, GardaWorld Security

3. Trust is earned through results

Today, we work with tens of thousands of customers across the world’s most complex operations. They trust us with the safety of their employees, their customer relationships and the financial health of their business.

“We’re 100% behind Samsara. I’d advocate it for any business, it’s a proven platform for safety, and I think everyone can get behind that.”

– Matthew Reid, Head of Plant & Transport, Cappagh Browne

This trust wasn’t built overnight. It’s the result of consistently delivering reliable, actionable insights that create real-world impact. With billions of miles of global driving data powering our technology, our customers are confident that the information we give them is accurate.

“Making the switch to Samsara has been a game-changer. We’re able to get accurate, instant data whenever we need it. The experience has been amazing for all of us.”

– Marco Goodridge, Maintenance Lead, Sterling Crane Canada

Just look at the results: Sterling Crane Canada saved $3m (£2.3m) on maintenance by using Samsara to get real-time insights into equipment, while Estes reduced costs $3m by building a fuel efficiency programme. Artera was able to identify their underutilised assets and sell them for $10m (£7.7m).

What’s next?

After a decade in this industry, we’ve learned that the best solutions are built with customers, not just for them. We’ve evolved from being a technology company to a true innovation partner. Looking ahead, we know that the challenges of physical operations will continue to evolve. As we look to the next 10 years, we’re ready to be right there alongside our customers, finding new ways to help them do their jobs more safely, smartly and efficiently.
