Our History
Samsara is Founded
Samsara was founded by Sanjit Biswas and John Bicket, who previously co-founded Meraki (now part of Cisco Systems) to digitise the operations world and make it safer, more efficient, and sustainable. The first Vehicle Gateway was launched for real-time fleet operations—tracking temperature, GPS location, and vehicle diagnostics.

Introducing Dashcams
As more customer requests came, Samsara started developing dashcams connected to the Vehicle Gateways to help improve driver safety. These dashcams would later have inward-facing cameras to help improve driving—leveraging AI for automatic alerts and detection.

Expanding to Europe
Samsara opens an office in London and expands to customers in Canada, Mexico, France, and Germany. Samsara would later open our first east coast office in Atlanta in 2019.

Adapting to a New State of World
Samsara adjusted to a flexible work model and adapted to a shifting economic climate—ensuring customers received uninterrupted service and new solutions to help customers adapt (e.g. sanitation checks in DVIRs). Our highest priority, then and always, is to protect the safety of our customers and community.

Samsara is Listed on the NYSE
With more than 80% annual growth, Samsara introduced its Connected Operations Cloud and App Marketplace to centralise customers' needs around telematics, equipment monitoring, and worksite visibility. In December, Samsara was officially listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Samsara Goes Beyond
As a public company, Samsara continued to expand, opening offices in Mexico City, Paris, Amsterdam, Munich, and Poland. The first Beyond customer conference and Connected Operations Awards were launched to celebrate Samsara customers paving new ways to operate for the future.
