For fleets of all sizes, creating, implementing, and sustaining a culture of safety is no easy feat. Fortunately, we’ve seen our new AI Dash Cams become central to how our customers effectively develop and carry out their safety programs. In the six months since their launch, we’ve helped thousands of fleets surface and analyze millions of driving incidents, developed many new features, further enhanced our hardware, and received recognition from the International Business Awards—we wanted to take a moment to pause and reflect on these developments.
The past six months have been an exciting period for us. We introduced third generation hardware, launched several major updates within the platform, and gave our customers valuable insights into millions of hard-to-detect driving incidents.
Building upon the strong foundation laid by their predecessors, our new AI Dash Cams offer HDR capabilities for low-light environments, an improved speaker for in-cab coaching, an onboard battery for fallback power, an even wider angle lens for improved visibility, and more.
In the platform, all-new rolling stop detection and speed limit analysis leverage the use of our AI capabilities and are integrated in our driver coaching tools. These enhancements let you to take decisive action on programs that drive meaningful change within your fleet and increase safety.
Seeing our customers unlock value from our dash cams continually invigorates us to raise the bar of our offering. Recently, we spoke with Dolphin Transportation, a large passenger transit fleet headquartered in Florida, who used dash cams to build a video-based safety program and improve driver training. Through the use of hyperlapse footage of faraway complicated routes, they have increased the speed with which they train their drivers by 300%.
Another customer who has realized the benefit of our dash cams is Moore Food Distributors. Samsara’s integrated platform helped Moore Food save over $250,000 after a major accident occurred. While one of their trucks was traveling on the highway at 65 mph it was struck by a car that caused their truck to tip over, pass through the guardrail, and fall down an embankment. Because Samsara automatically retrieves dash cam footage of harsh incidents, Moore Food was able to send video files to law enforcement and insurance companies within five minutes of the accident, proving their driver was not at fault.
These two stories represent a small sampling of how our 10,000+ customers are leveraging Samsara to create a competitive advantage around safety within their fleets.
This year we also were recognized by the international business community with accolades from the Stevie Awards. More than 250 business leaders participated in a rigorous peer-review process, and we’re honored to say our Dual-facing AI Dash Cam won gold in the Best New Product or Service of the Year - Hardware - Networking category and silver in the IoT Analytics Solution category. We also were awarded for the second year in a row with a silver medal in the Most Innovative Tech Company of the Year category and received a newly minted gold in the Company of the Year - Transportation - Large category.
Millions of driving incidents captured automatically, step change improvements in our customers’ fleet safety programs, multiple awards, and dozens of meaningful product enhancements—all in six months. We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing to enable our customers to leverage the AI Dash Cam as a centerpiece for increasing the safety of their operations.
