‘The accuracy and transparency that Samsara offers have become essential to our operations,’ explains Steve Neubert, Division Manager at Wertstoff Bader.
10-12 percent annual savings in fuel consumption: Thanks to precise real-time data and optimised driving histories, Wertstoff Bader was able to reduce annual fuel consumption by 10-12 percent and cut operating costs.
€12,000 saved with faster accident resultion : The integrated dashcams enable seamless documentation and help to efficiently clarify misunderstandings with customers. In one case, the company saved up to €12,000 by using video evidence.
5 hours of working time saved per week: The automation and centralisation of administrative tasks saves up to 5 hours per week. This saving corresponds to around 450 euros per week, which extrapolates to a value of 23,400 euros per year.
20 minutes per vehicle: Equipping the entire fleet was impressively quick and efficient – each vehicle was ready for operation in under half an hour.
Since its foundation in 1952 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Wertstoff Bader has developed into a leading provider of waste disposal services. The traditional company is characterised by its continuous family management, its own workshop and specialised container processing. In recent years, Wertstoff Bader has been confronted with the challenges of an outdated telematics system in order to meet the demands of its growing business.
The previous system was proving inadequate to meet the demands of the growing business. The main problems included a lack of tracking accuracy, complex and inefficient navigation and difficulties in analysing efficiency. These shortcomings regularly led to costly complaints, as the vehicles had to return frequently to check on operations that were not completed. These additional journeys caused both higher operating costs and increased workload.
After an intensive market analysis, Wertstoff Bader chose Samsara. Steve Neubert, Division Manager at Wertstoff Bader, explains: ‘The accuracy and transparency offered by Samsara have become indispensable for our operations.’ The company was particularly impressed by Samsara's combination of real-time data, ease of use and the comprehensive range of functions that could be seamlessly integrated into daily operations.
The implementation was quick and efficient: the entire fleet was equipped within just 20 minutes per vehicle. The drivers were trained and quickly accepted the new system as they immediately recognised the benefits. Initial concerns about potential surveillance quickly disappeared as it became clear that the dash cams and the system as a whole would ease the burden of incidents.
Since the introduction of Samsara, Wertstoff Bader has realised significant efficiency gains and savings. Thanks to the seamless documentation and tracking of operations, the company has not only been able to clarify misunderstandings with customers, but also avoid unnecessary journeys. This has led to a reduction in annual fuel consumption of around 10-12 per cent, which equates to savings of several thousand euros. The time savings are also considerable: up to five hours per week have been saved through the automation and centralisation of administrative tasks.
In addition, the forward-facing dash cams enabled a detailed analysis of driving behaviour and helped to increase safety and reduce the burden on drivers in the event of accidents. In one particularly significant case, video evidence saved up to 12,000 euros in potential costs, as complaints could be resolved more quickly.
Samsara has enabled Wertstoff Bader to use data for driver training and to optimise driver behaviour. Using speed analyses and real-time notifications, incidents such as speeding on bends can be identified immediately and discussed with the drivers. As a result, driving behaviour has been sustainably improved, leading to a reduction in fuel consumption and an overall increase in safety.
Steve Neubert describes the importance of this technology for the company: ‘Our many years of experience have shown that modern operations are no longer conceivable without this type of digital support. Samsara has enabled us to achieve a high level of efficiency and self-protection.’
Wertstoff Bader plans to further expand the use of the Samsara platform and integrate additional functions, such as the Samsara driver app, more closely into its day-to-day work. This should enable further optimisations in driver training and fleet management. The aim is to fully complete the digitalisation of operations and the fleet by the end of the year.
The use of Samsara has proven to be a decisive factor for Wertstoff Bader in making its operations future-proof and efficient. With a combination of technological precision, ease of implementation and comprehensive data transparency, the company has not only increased its operational efficiency, but also enhanced driver protection and customer satisfaction.
