Samsara offers two rugged tracking solutions to protect assets of any size.

• Asset Tag: About the size of a "fun size" candy bar, this tag is designed for larger high-value equipment like skid steers, generators, and trailers. It features a battery life of up to 6 years.

• Asset Tag XS: Our most compact option, the size of a "bite size" candy bar. It is designed for smaller, mission-critical items like power tools, hand scanners, and laptops. It features a battery life of up to 3 years.

Tagging assets with a small tracker, like the Asset Tag, helps in tracking, locating, and managing physical assets, preventing theft, and simplifying inventory management.

Both tags work by connecting to the Samsara Network, an industrial network that consists of millions of Samsara-connected devices that travel on 99% of major U.S. roads each day.

Once dispatched, crews can use Compass Mode in the Samsara Driver App to pinpoint an asset’s exact location. Powered by ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, it provides real-time distance and directional guidance, with an on-screen arrow leading them straight to the asset — even in crowded trucks or busy job sites.

You can track almost any asset critical to your operation: concrete saws, pumps, generators, methane detectors, arc welders, survey equipment, press kits, rebar scanners, core drills, utility locators, and medical equipment, such as IV pumps and defibrillators.

The devices are built for long-term field use without maintenance. The standard Asset Tag has a battery life of up to 6 years, while the compact Asset Tag XS lasts up to 3 years.

The Asset Tag and Asset Tag XS are built from the ground up to reduce theft and loss in operations. The compact, low-profile design makes it difficult for thieves to find. 

Samsara provides a complete "Detect, Investigate, and Recover" workflow:

• Detect: "Left Behind" alerts notify you immediately if an asset is separated from its vehicle outside a trusted geofence.

• Investigate: You can mark assets as "Missing" in the dashboard to centrally manage the search and share live tracking links with law enforcement.

• Recover: The expanded network locates the general area of the asset, and the "Compass Mode" feature helps you physically retrieve it.
