During our latest earnings call, Samsara CEO Sanjit Biswas shared our record financial results and highlighted our international expansion, in particular Mexico. Mexico is one of the largest economies in Latin America and is the door to the region—representing an essential component of Samsara’s international growth. We’re excited to announce that we are doubling down on our investment in the region and have opened a new office in Mexico City.
Samsara entered the Mexican market three years ago. Since then, we’ve grown dramatically—working with hundreds of regional customers, including world-class organizations such as Alianza Trayecto, Cruz Roja, and Mexicana Logistics.
The new Mexico City office will help us to continue building our local team culture as we more than double our team within the next year—bringing on additional Sales, R&D, and Customer Success staff. Our customers know their challenges, operations, and work best, and we’re excited to continue partnering with them to shape our products and platform.
Samsara helps businesses that depend on physical operations to harness IoT (Internet of Things) data to develop actionable business insights and improve their operations. In Mexico, many industries, including companies in transportation, logistics, food and beverage, and passenger transit, rely on these insights to make their operations safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. In 2021, Samsara saved companies around the world 90 million liters of gasoline.
In Mexico, we’ve seen similar improvements in our customer’s operations. Mexicana Logistics began using our solutions in 2020 to support the transportation of more than 150,000 Class 8 trucks and 160,000 cars annually. “In the first month, we saw a 20% reduction in speeding. This translates into less damage, fewer accidents, and better quality driving,” said Julio Encinas, Director of Strategic Development and Engineering at Mexicana Logistics.
Our world-class, values-driven team is paving the way for the Connected Operations Cloud industry in Latin America. Julia Monroy, our sales leader in the region, recently mentioned something that resonated with me: “One of the things that I like the most about Samsara is the commitment we have towards our clients, so once we heard what they needed, we began to develop specific innovations for what these companies required.” One of Samsara’s company values is “Focus on Customer Success” and I see our team living our values every day. As I look to the future, I’m excited to see all the ways we’ll impact and grow with our customers' operations.
Mexico marks another step forward for Samsara in our mission to increase the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of the operations that power the global economy. If this is exciting to you, please learn more about our open roles at www.samsara.com/company/careers.
