“The combination of the various initiatives and Samsara technology has enabled RubanBleu to reduce its fuel consumption by an average of 14%. This has resulted in annual savings of €49,000 and a 7% reduction in CO2 emissions per kilometre.” Guillaume Bruneau, Director Pôle Interurbain, Groupe RubanBleu
27% reduction in idling-related fuel losses
Savings of €49,000 thanks to a 14% reduction in overall fuel consumption
7% reduction in CO2 emissions
30% reduction in at-fault accidents
As of 2024, 92% of RubanBleu's 480-vehicle fleet is clean, aiming for 100% by 2026.
Founded over 70 years ago in Aveyron under the name RubanBleu Autocars, the RubanBleu Group now employs over 600 people and has a turnover of 40 million euros.
Recognised for the quality of its services, the RubanBleu Group is positioned as an innovative SME involved in local economic development. The company is also committed to a strong eco-responsible approach, and for several years has been implementing a proactive policy to reduce its CO2 emissions and actively invest in a fleet of clean vehicles to support the energy transition of its fleet.
RubanBleu has defined three key ambitions:
Energy transition: to have a 100% clean fleet by 2026. The company is gradually moving towards alternative energies such as electricity, BioGNV and biofuels.
Digital transition: implementing digitalisation for its customers, its teams and its fleet of vehicles.
Social transition: increasing the professionalism of its teams, by carrying out in-depth work on the tasks expected of its drivers and the resources made available to them so that they can carry out their tasks to the best of their ability.
For RubanBleu, data is essential for achieving its carbon emission reduction targets, by supporting both eco-driving and the energy transition of its fleet.
Samsara AI Dash Cams, combined with the analysis of driving and fuel consumption data provided by the Samsara platform, enable RubanBleu to raise its drivers' awareness of eco-responsible driving and energy-saving practices. As detailed in the following section, the results obtained are spectacular.
Samsara data also enables RubanBleu to manage the energy transition of its fleet more effectively, thanks in particular to the analysis of the performance of each vehicle.
RubanBleu also makes extensive use of Samsara's EV Charging Trends Reports, which are programmed to be updated once a month. These reports are particularly useful for compensating drivers who recharge their electric vehicles at home: the EV reports provided by Samsara indicate very precisely which vehicles have been charged and for how many kilowatts.
“Every month, we display the fuel consumption data and the drivers can see the progress they have made and the areas in which they can improve. We're seeing a very clear improvement in the quality of driving and a widespread adoption of good practice. Some drivers are really getting into the game and challenging each other to achieve the best eco-driving performance”, comments Guillaume Bruneau.
The Samsara platform is also helping RubanBleu to accelerate the energy transition of its fleet. The group plans to have a 100% clean fleet by 2026. These sustainability initiatives and Samsara's tools are making it possible to move towards this objective very effectively: by the end of 2024, the company had transitioned 92% of its fleet of 480 vehicles.
Another area where RubanBleu has measured spectacular results is in reducing idling. Thanks to the involvement of drivers and Samsara's idling reports, the group has been able to reduce fuel losses linked to idling time by 27%.
Last but not least, the overall reduction in the fleet's fuel consumption. “The combination of the various initiatives and Samsara technology has enabled RubanBleu to reduce its fuel consumption by an average of 14%. This translates into annual savings of €49,000 and a 7% reduction in CO2 emissions per kilometre,” said Guillaume Bruneau.
All this progress has also resulted in a significant increase in the safety and protection of RubanBleu drivers, with a 30% drop in the number of accidents for which the company is responsible. “On several occasions, Samsara's on-board cameras have proved that our drivers were not at fault in traffic accidents,” said Bruneau.
