Head of Recruiting Ops & Programs
At Samsara, we have a mission to build a smarter, safer world — and our interns are valued contributors to our efforts. This summer we welcomed 30 interns to Samsara, joining teams across the company including Engineering, Legal, Operations, Sales, and Marketing. Hailing from 20 different universities across the United States and Europe, our interns spent their summer tackling projects, collaborating with mentors, and building connections through team bonding, volunteering, learning and development, and company-wide events.
From the moment their summer internship began, our interns were immersed in their teams and given projects. They embodied our values while they worked on complex questions and built long-term solutions focused on our customers’ needs. Here are just a few examples of the projects our 2022 interns worked on to improve the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of our customers’ operations:
Focus on Customer Success: A Business Technology intern created a model to identify customer pain points when nearing their contract renewal process to ensure customers have a seamless renewal process and a positive experience.
Prioritize Safety: A project by one of our Software Engineer interns focused on improving the identification and reporting of collisions in order for customers to improve driver safety programs and reduce accidents and insurance costs.
Increase Efficiency for our Customers: An intern who joined our Sales Engineering team onboarded a new customer to Samsara’s network, went onsite to help install our products, and addressed complex questions to further foster our customer relationship.
Build for the Long Term: Our Product Marketing intern analyzed the content buyer journey and helped to uplevel the team by creating more effective campaigns that better told our story to potential customers.
Ensuring Sustainable Practices: On the Legal team, our interns worked on building our customer-facing knowledge base and researched upcoming state regulations regarding vehicle inspection and maintenance to help educate on privacy, safety, and compliance best practices.
Our intern program is designed to kickstart our interns’ careers in the tech industry and to provide hands-on experience, taking on projects that directly impact our products and processes. In order to achieve this, each of our interns was assigned a dedicated mentor and manager for the entire summer who provided guidance and feedback and ensured that they were set up for success during their time at Samsara. Interns were also able to make connections with our company’s leadership during our Speaker Series, where they had direct access to our executive team. Our interns spend the summer developing their skills, learning from mentors and leaders, and driving their own projects — all while helping us at Samsara lead the digital transformation of the world’s operations.
While our interns were contributing to the Connected Operations Cloud, they were also making connections with each other. Our hybrid model allows immersion into Samsara’s company culture by experiencing in-person events while also having the flexibility to work remotely two days a week. With the majority of this summer’s interns based in San Francisco for their hybrid internship, they were able to celebrate the opening of the newest SF office and get together to enjoy the fun experiences the Bay Area has to offer. Interns working remotely or in our London office certainly didn’t miss out—aside from the connections they make with other Samsarians on their teams, our summer intern program incorporates virtual team-bonding events and collaborative channels to foster camaraderie across locations. From Boba Wednesday to virtual game shows to happy hours at San Francisco breweries, our 2022 intern class bonded in the office and beyond.
Samsara is hiring, and we’re looking for people who are interested in tackling real-world challenges to make a positive impact on the world. Check out our early career programs and join our team!
