Over the last few weeks, as the spread of COVID-19 has changed the way the world operates, fleets of all kinds have needed to adapt. Despite the challenges and uncertainty, businesses across multiple industries -- including many Samsara customers -- are stepping up to meet the essential needs of our communities. To all of you going above and beyond, we want to say thank you.
Samsara serves over 10,000 customers, many who deliver the essential services people are relying on right now: logistics, manufacturing, food and beverage distribution, government services, utilities, and more. Here are a few of their stories.
ABF Freight, a shipping and logistics carrier with over 4,000 vehicles, is moving quickly to deliver critical medical supplies across the country. A recent shipment contained ventilator parts -- perhaps the most in-demand pieces of medical equipment during this pandemic.
Gulf Winds International, another shipping and logistics carrier, recently delivered an emergency relief supply of hand sanitizer to port workers across the Gulf and East Coast. “Understandably, internal stakeholders want even more visibility into our fleet operations during this time”, said Amy Ferguson, Director of Safety & Compliance at Gulf Winds International. “Samsara has helped us ensure essential deliveries get to those on the front lines of COVID-19.”
GP Transco, a Chicago trucking and logistics carrier, has delivered 15M pounds of food to stores and 10,000 pounds of medical gloves to healthcare workers across the U.S. in the last week alone. “This is a very unique time,” said Dominic Zastarskis, CEO. “The public can see now more than ever just how important truckers are to the nation and the economy.”
Serving Seniors, a San Diego based organization that offers low-income seniors support, is now delivering over 25,000 meals per week. The non-profit’s quick pivot extended beyond senior clients living at home; to support homeless seniors, the non-profit has created pre-packaged to-go meals folks can pick up. Paul Downey, the President and CEO, highlighted the importance of serving the homeless population during the pandemic: “Serving our homeless seniors allows us to get eyes on them and observe if they are exhibiting any symptoms of the coronavirus. If they are, we are able to link them to the appropriate medical resources.”
With many of our customers working long hours to support COVID-19 efforts, operating efficiently has become a huge priority. Here are some tips to reference as you navigate these circumstances:
